A Monthly Reflective Healing Ritual

Delivered to your mailbox each month

Each month's story letter is accompanied by a few carefully chosen pieces to help you slow down, reflect, and carry its meaning into your own life.

Letters from a Healer monthly mailing with story letter, art card, reflective practice, tea, and kraft envelope.
  • Tea: Each mailing includes tea as a simple invitation to pause. Brew it before opening your letter and give yourself a few quiet minutes away from the demands of the day.
  • A Story Letter: Stories can reach places that advice cannot. Each letter shares a story from my own life or a lesson gathered through more than twenty years of healing work, offering space to recognize something from your own experience.
  • An Art Card and Poem: The month's art and poem are paired with the story to deepen its meaning and help it remain with you after the letter has been put away.
  • A Healing Practice and Journal Prompts: Rooted in the month's story, the practice and prompts help you explore what the letter stirred within you and carry one of its insights into your daily life.

Together, these pieces create a monthly ritual—beginning with the warmth of tea and continuing through the weeks ahead.

Who These Letters Are For

These letters are for you if you spend much of your life caring for others and long for something that allows you to receive rather than give. Whether you are continually showing up for family and friends, work in a helping profession, practice Reiki or another healing art, or are simply drawn to the spiritual side of life, these letters offer something that asks nothing of you.

After spending so much time listening to and caring for others, your own inner voice can become harder to hear. That's why I'm writing these letters—to help you return to yourself.

The healer behind the letters

About Sara Burns

For most of my life, I have been fascinated by the ways people heal, grow, and find meaning through life's challenges.

My journey began in healthcare as a nurse and later as a social worker, where I worked with individuals and families facing trauma, grief, abuse, illness, and life's many turning points. Those experiences taught me something I would witness again and again throughout my life: people are often far stronger and wiser than they realize.

At the age of twenty-seven, a near-death experience opened a door I never expected to walk through. It challenged many of my assumptions and led me on a lifelong exploration of healing, consciousness, and the deeper questions that shape our lives.

That path eventually led me into the practice and teaching of energy healing. For more than twenty years, I worked with students and clients seeking healing, growth, and transformation. During that time, I founded Sacred Transformations®, a healing and training program recognized among Massage Magazine's Top 10 Reiki Programs in 2023.

Letters from a Healer grew from a desire to share what I have learned — not as instruction, but as story, reflection, and quiet companionship for those who are drawn to the deeper dimensions of life.

A Glimpse Inside the First Letter

When Something Feels Off

Dear Friend,

Have you ever been in a place that was supposed to be safe—to feel safe—yet something inside you quietly said, "Something is off"?

Today I want to share a moment early in my Reiki training that not only impacted me but also helped shape how I would train my students in Reiki. Like many in the beginning, the thought of a group coming together in love to help each other heal was a beautiful concept—but not always a realistic one.

Every Saturday afternoon, I drove Highway 1 from San Diego to Oceanside for a healing gathering. It took place at a quaint metaphysical shop run by my teacher, Diana, and her business partners, Donna and Gerda. On any given weekend, people wandered in to browse the crystals and books, join the healing circle (more out of curiosity), or became regulars that just like to hang out. Then, there were those who came strictly to "do business" with Diana.

This story is about one of those visitors, though I can't remember her name, I clearly remember her energy. She was a tall woman who exuded strong power. She came just as we were getting started to do healing work on each other. She was hoping Diana could promote her tour to Europe to see Celtic sites and learn more about paganism. I thought that would have been an interesting trip and contemplated going. But after that afternoon healing session, I wrote that idea off.

Nothing was said out loud. However, it was another story of what was happening while I was on the table for healing, getting Reiki.
